About the Opportunity

Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS) is looking for a Customer Liaison Officer (Suicide Prevention) to join their team in Kununurra, WA on a part-time basis (19 hours a week).

Reporting to the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Coordinatoryou will be the main point of contact for the Suicide Prevention Trial site, working closely with the Kimberley Aboriginal Suicide Project Coordinator to support and engage local community members in identifying, implementing and evaluating suicide prevention activities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Communicating with local community members, across different family and traditional owner groups;
  • Organising and facilitating community meetings and gatherings with community members, service providers and specific target groups, such as LGBTQI individuals and youth groups;
  • Contributing to the planning, implementation and evaluation of activities in the community as part of the Kimberley Aboriginal suicide prevention trial;
  • Working with the community to achieve identified key milestones in the suicide prevention plan, reporting on progress to your supervisor, the local community, and the broader CLO group;
  • Being available to support families and other community members as identified; and
  • Seeking and recording information and feedback from individuals, groups; and the wider community.

About You

OVAHS is looking for someone patient and empathetic, who can build genuine relationships with community members and engage individuals from a variety of target groups.

It's crucial that you can work both independently and collaboratively, as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will have strong organisation skills and be comfortable facilitating small and large meetings with a range of stakeholders, coordinating regular support for identified individuals across the community.

Please note: The successful candidate will require a current 'C' class drivers licence, and either hold or be willing to obtain National Police Clearance and Working with Children clearance prior to commencement.
