Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS) provides comprehensive Primary Health Care services to Aboriginal people in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. With a holistic approach that includes a high standard of service delivery and the promotion of social justice, they empower individuals, families, and communities to make positive changes for their health and wellbeing.

About the Opportunity

Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS) is seeking a Health Programs Manager to join their team on a full-time basis in Kununurra, WA.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officeryou will be overseeing relevant managers and coordinators in the day-to-day management of OVAHS Health Programs and Services.

More specifically, you will be:

  • Assuring health services and clinics operate in accordance with client needs and requirements, and in accordance with obligations to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ensuring that all activities of clinical operations fit within a CQI framework and implementing best practice into clinical operations;
  • Maintaining a high-level understanding of compliance with ACCHS Modern Award provisions, Fair Work, EEO and OSH legislation;
  • Demonstrating commitment, initiative and leadership in the provision of highly functioning health care operations; and
  • Working with and supporting the CEO with the executive management of the organisation and in support of the Board of Directors.

About You

To be considered for this position you will be recognised by AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Other Allied Health Professional, with demonstrable operations experience at a senior management level.

As an experienced senior manager in the health sector, your ability to oversee and ensure competent practice and alignment with funding requirements, in an operational setting involving senior clinical professionals and team managers, will be paramount to your success as you hit the ground running.

Moreover, you will need to demonstrate strong and inclusive leadership practices, not just within a clinical environment, but taking into account the community-facing responsibility OVAHS has as a Primary Health Care Service. 

Any experience working constructively with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities will be highly regarded but is not essential, provided you can demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and the issues faced by Aboriginal people in rural and remote areas and the impact they have on health and wellbeing.

You will also need to be comfortable building effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, notwithstanding funding bodies and local community members/organisations.

Please note: The successful candidate will require a current 'C' class drivers licence, and either hold or be willing to obtain National Police Clearance and Working with Children clearance prior to commencement.
